I blame this post on Brett Duncan.
Recently Christopher S. Penn challenged bloggers to put together a list of 5 posts they wrote that they thought were great, but which really didn’t get the traffic they deserved. He suggested we give them one more chance at glory by creating a list he calls the “Evergreen 5.”
My friend Brett Duncan took up the challenge on his Marketing in Progress blog. And in that post, he tagged me to do the same. Thanks Brett!
So I went back through the archives of the Direct Sales & Social Media blog to find some of the posts I’ve written over the years that I think you’ll find valuable. I’ve actually spent the month of January already highlighting some of these through my social networks. But today I’ll highlight 5 here. Enjoy!
- The Top 10 Mistakes Direct Sellers Make in Social Media
- The Secret to Success in Social Media
- Is Your Blog a Waste of Time? (aka, What to Include if You Want Your Blog to Help Your Business)
- Are You Treating Your Social Networks as an Opt-In List?
- Warning! Have You Been Targeted by These Deceptive Facebook Advertising Practices?
Oh, and I tag Dino Baskovic, Julie Anne Jones, Danny Brown, Justin Cofield, and Shane Martindale to show us your Evergreen 5.
And if you decide to play, share a link to your Evergreen 5 in the comments below!

Hey Jennifer,
After traveling to Boston last week with walking Pneumonia (is that why they call it walking?), I’ve been pretty much down and recuperating this week so I just saw this. I’ll work on this and post it next Tuesday.
Thanks so much for including me and have a great trip to Boston today yourself.

I love being blamed!!
I thought Chris’ idea here was a great one. It’s amazing how many posts we write that we just know are gonna be huge hits, only to watch them drift away into relative Internet oblivion.
And I’m digging your list. I really like the Is Your Blog a Waste of Time? one.
Thanks for playing along. And, hey Dino: I’ll gladly spell your name right for some cash.

@bdunc1
I’ll pay you any amount of money to spell my name right.
Well, thank you for including me in this, truly. I can tell you that after a cursory glance of my past blogs from the last few years, as well as some archived on older blogs, there definitely are some I feel might be worthy to resurface. It also gave me an opportunity to look at a lot of older posts and think, “Wow, why did I write that?”
So, very useful exercise. Stay tuned. Looking forward to seeing lists from Julie, Danny, Justin and Shane, as well as looking at Brett’s and yours, Jen.
Cheers!
Gah! My apologies Dino. I promise I’ll do better next time! *red face*
Happens all the time. No worries. Now back to my homework assignment from you!
