Announcing: My New Book! and a Contest

The Courage to Receive by Jennifer and John FongI’m absolutely thrilled to announce the publication of my first book, The Courage to Receive: Overcoming Devastating Setbacks and Living a Life of Greater Abundance, which I have co-authored with my husband John. It tells the story of how we started a company with a big dream to save the world, and watched it all come crashing down, wiping out our life savings. What we did next, and how you can use a similar strategy in your own life, is an inspiring story that can help you live a life more abundant than anything you have ever imagined.

We decided to publish now because, as a result of the economic recession, a lot of people are still struggling. It can be incredibly demoralizing to hear “no” after “no” when you’ve worked so hard. It’s our hope that this book will help people come to recognize that these challenges can actually be an opportunity to open yourself to new people and new journeys in a way that’s different from what you may have defined in your head. It’s an opportunity to find the purpose that’s out there for you.

The last 10 years have been rough financially. I would love to find my purpose while also doing more than surviving.

I received your e-mail regarding your new book and connected with the brief story about you and your husband’s struggle with a direct selling business and then success. I am currently in the struggling with my direct selling business, or maybe I should say for the past 6.5 years. I am at a cross-roads where I am seriously contemplating leaving that business. I have truly enjoyed the connections I have made, but am not certain what the future holds. I do believe that I can use your book to get perspective and encouragement, so that I can embrace the ‘new’ company and continue on. I truly enjoy your communications and wish you only the best with your new book! Thank you for the e-mail as well.

Sounds like a great book. As a former restaurant & newspaper owner that fought the recession and a direct sales rep trying to get ahead while working my 9-5 job, I could use a little inspiration and this book sounds like a great place to start.

I’d love to receive a paperback copy of this book! I was first connected to Jennifer Fong’s incredibly insightful and savvy social media marketing blog. As a GenXer, I’m trying to stay abreast of the rapidly changing marketing environment and Jennifer’s blog is simply the best.

Learning that such a gifted and talented individual also had to overcome personal/professional challenges to succeed is always an uplifting and encouraging way to push oneself through periods of difficult change and transformation. I look forward to reading what insights she has to the process as I continue to evolve through my transitional phase.

Hugs to you Yapha! I believe that challenges can be the things that help us discover our purpose for that point in our lives. After you have grieved what this diagnosis has taken from you, be sure to make time to find ways that this can help you touch the lives of others. Your next season may be upon you, and this challenge may be leading you to it. I will say a prayer for you and your husband. Hugs.
