Go Big or Go Home

Nothing drives me crazier than consultants in direct selling companies who whine. “I want to build a business but no one will book a party.” or “In this economy no one is buying anything.” or “No one wants to join my team.” All the while they’re spending more time playing Angry Birds than working their business.

Seriously? No one? Then how come the top earners (and even the non top earners) are booking parties, making sales, and recruiting new consultants into the business?

Get this through your head: Success in your business starts and ends with YOU and what you decide.

  • You decide whether or not to make one more phone call.
  • You decide whether or not to present the opportunity to every single person at the party.
  • You decide whether or not to do the follow up calls you know you should do.
  • You DECIDE.

So are you in it to succeed or not?

My favorite kind of people to hang around with are the people who are ALL IN. They’re the ones who do what it takes to make it work (and are thoroughly jazzed about it!) They work harder than anyone else in the room, and they are committed to achieving what they want. They are ALL IN.

Are you?

Love it Jen! No wine for whiners!! I absolutely agree with you. There are many people in direct sales marketing that want to make money but they are not willing to do what it takes to succeed. They prefer to sit back and whine just about everything or they pass on the blame for their lack of success to someone else. Thanks for being bold enough to share this. Hopefully it will be a wake up call for someone.

    Hey Jen,

Back in the direct sales industry for good this time. Finally found a company that’s doing really well with us. I think a lot of us fight that demon every single day. We are the ONLY reason our business doesn’t succeed. My problem is that I’ve been out of direct sales for a while now and am just now starting to get a bit of my confidence back. I’m seeing people just like myself making some serious money with their business. I’ve finally gotten the confidence to grab them by the arm and say, “We need to get together for a goal planning session so I can make a lot of money.” I want to learn from the best… cause this momma wants to go on a company cruise or earn a rookie bonus ASAP!!! Keep writing these great articles. Trust me, I read them.

I totally understand that not everyone has the same goals and some folks are quite happy with their direct hobby. I’m cool with that. But if someone wants to build a successful business they must be willing to do what ever it takes to make it happen. There is no magic tricks or secret sauce! Learn it, do it, teach it.

You got it! And going big can be different things for different people. Just don’t whine that you’re not reaching your goals (whatever those may be.) You have to work it to achieve it!

That is one of the best descriptions I’ve heard of what frustrates leaders the most. I am sharing this with my team and peers immediately. Thanks Jennifer!
