Many of you know I suggest a Facebook Group as a place to invite your customers to connect with you around your business. There are several advantages to a group over a page, including the ability to send a message to the inbox of group members (up to 5,000 group members), as well as the ability to keep your customer list private.
However recently, we’ve been noticing that Facebook is posting your groups activity in the news feed. If you’re treating your group as an opt-in list and providing more specific business messages, you may not want this in the streams of all your friends. After all, your friends haven’t opted in for that type of message…only your group.
So here’s how to turn that OFF, so your group activity does not show up for your friends:

HI Jen,
Thank you for this information! I’d like to make sure I understand this correctly…by NOT having that box checked it means that only people who opted-in to my group will see what I post to my group through there newsfeed. Is that correct?
I was concerned that it seemed when I posted something to my group’s wall that it was being published for all my personal friends to see which I prefer not to be the case. I only want the people who opted in to join my group to see those posts through their newsfeed.
Can you confirm so I make sure I am understanding this correctly.
Thanks so much and have a great weekend!
Jill
Correct! If you don’t want Facebook to publish your group activity for your friends to see, just uncheck the box.
Thank You so very much Jeniffer! This was quite helpful ~ I loved the video along with the wording, much better learned this way! Keep up the great information! You ROCK!
Thank you! This is very useful information.
Thank you so much! I was so worried about this, having just created a group.
