Introducing Malaria No More

If you visit the website for this blog (rather than reading through email) you might notice a new item on the right-hand sidebar. It’s a badge for Malaria No More, and it’s part of a campaign to ELIMINATE child deaths in Africa due to malaria. When this campaign started, there were 1 million deaths of children per year due to malaria, a preventable disease. Because of the work of this campaign to provide bed nets for every child, there are now projected to be ZERO deaths by 2015. All from the purchase of $10 bed nets.

Because you see, the mosquitoes that carry malaria only come out after 10pm. Most children are in bed by then. So as long as these kids are sleeping under a mosquito net, they aren’t bitten. For $10, you can save lives. Pretty amazing, right?

We were introduced to this program at the DSA Annual Meeting last week. And it really caught my attention.

So today I throw out a challenge to you.

  1. Consider making a donation to Malaria No More. The more that is raised, the more children live. It’s that simple.
  2. If you have a website, consider adding a badge like mine. Invite your readers to donate.

Together we can make a difference. Will you join us?
