The last few holiday seasons, I have pretty much finished my shopping by the end of November. Why? Well first, I HATE the mall during the holidays. WAY too crowded. I’ve got better things to do with my time. But also, by planning ahead, I can place orders with my favorite direct sellers, get everything delivered to my door with time to spare, and I can get on with what I have to do.
What about you? Have you made your list yet?
You have control over whether or not the holidays are stressful. You have control over what your kids remember about the holidays. Is it a time of madness? Or a time of joy? Are you constantly running errands? Or spending time with your kids making memories?
It’s time to break out of the “rushing” mode that so often goes along with the holidays.
At every party, give your guests a “wish list” to fill in with memory joggers, like Friends, Neighbors, Hairdresser, Teachers, Mail Carriers, After-School Activity Leaders, Church, etc. Give them lines to fill in names and gifts to purchase. (Here’s a downloadable template…a little gift from me to you.) And make your own list now.
Take back your holiday season. Focus on the things that matter. Get your shopping done now, shop local, and focus on the meaning of the season.
