Last night I had the real privilege of sitting with some of our Direct Selling Association Hall of Fame winners at the final celebration dinner of the Direct Selling Association Annual Meeting, celebrating 100 years of the DSA. The thing that struck me the most was the incredible amount of history sitting in that room. We celebrated companies that had been in business 100 years or more (including Avon, which was one of the 10 founding members of the DSA), and once again acknowledged the incredible contributions of people who have created this remarkable industry that changes so many lives. I personally sat next to one of the people that drafted the original DSA code of ethics. Remarkable.
I guess today I just wanted you to know how special this industry is. There are people who sat in that room last night who have dedicated their entire lives to making sure that you have the opportunity to have your direct sales business. So you could put food on the table. So you can create a life without boundaries. They have done so with joy, because they believe so deeply in the opportunity that this industry provides to every person that wants it.
As we enter the next 100 years of the Direct Selling Association, I honor every person that has been a part of this remarkable industry. We have a rich heritage. We have made giving and personal development a cornerstone of what we do. And the millions of lives that have been changed as a direct result of the efforts of the people working with these companies is a real testament to the power of direct selling. And I look forward to continuing to be a part of the collaborative nature of these companies, that embraces new technologies and new ideas, helping all of our companies and opportunities to grow stronger and better.
I honor you my friends. Here’s to another amazing 100 years.
